Woolly Friends Angoras

October 29,2009

Welcome to Woolly Friends Angoras! We are a small french and German angora rabbitry located in beautiful central Vermont. Marc and I became interested in fiber animals and spinning about two years ago. A mother of one of Marc's students would sometimes sit and spin during her sons fiddle lesson. As a long time knitter he naturally asked her about her spinning. One conversation lead to another and before we knew it we were attending our first Vermont Sheep and Wool Festival. Marc and I were hooked on fleeces, roving, yarn, sheep, spinning wheels, and last but not least fiber animals. We started visiting different farms and enjoyed watching and learning about the beautiful sheep that were providing spinners with lovely fleeces to spin. We came to the decision that we wanted to have fiber animals of our own. Sheep was our first thought but soon realized that we are just a little bit short of grazing land. I have always loved and admired rabbits ever since I was a little girl. As an adult I would gaze over rabbits at the local farm show each year. It seemed very natural to us then that angora rabbits was for us. We began our research on angora rabbits. We read and talked to everyone we could that could give us information on these lovely creatures. We finally found not one but two beautiful french angora tortes! Lily and Daisy came home to their new condo. This was just the beginning. Lily and Daisy had settled in and we were all very happy. Thanksgiving was upon us when we learned that two french does were in need of a home. I told Marc to go and get them. We had room and love to share. Two became four french angora rabbits, Lily, Daisy, Flopsy, and Rosie! We later decided to look at a litter of french angora rabbits. We saw Peter at 10 days old and fell in love. Seven weeks later we brought Peter, a chocolate french angora buck home. Flopsy and Peter are now the proud dam and sire of 8 beautiful french angora kits. They are 6 weeks old and as cute as can be! This is our first litter.
